In June 1998 Fromageries Riches Monts reduced the working week to 35 hours.
Flexible working and a cut in hours brings real benefits for the company and its employees.
It took almost two year's negotiations to reach the final agreement. Discussions started during the last quarter of 1996 and a framework agreement was signed on 21 November 1997 fixing the broad lines of the shift to a 35 hour working week.
On 17 March 1998 the French Ministry of Labour issued its approval and the corresponding agreements were signed in each establishment between March and May 1998. Finally the overall agreement for shorter working hours at Fromageries Riches Monts was signed on 18 May 1998, coming into effect on 1 June 1998.
This was a major step forward for Fromageries Riches Monts and a very good thing for employment. Since June 1998 shorter working hours have led to numerous new jobs at the various industrial facilities, in the sales force and at headquarters. In all, almost 100 people have been recruited. |
